Kingdom Intercessory Prayer is direct communion and intimate communication between God and mankind that touches God’s heart. Rightly defined, Dr. Miles Munroe states that “Prayer Is Earthly License For Heavenly Interference”. Yes, God, God Almighty, God the Creator of the heavens and the earth, God the Beginning and the End, God the Source of all that is, God the Creator of man–the same God, in all His power and all His majesty, stops and listens when you pray. Prayer is the key to developing and establishing covenant, relationship, fellowship and friendship with God. Prayer gives strength, wisdom, comfort and answers for any and all situations and circumstances. Prayer gets God’s and heaven’s attention. God says that even before we call He hears us, and He will answer us. We cannot afford not to pray.
It is true that when God said, “Let man rule over all the earth,” He was arranging the dominion of the world so that the partnership of man was essential for the accomplishment of His purposes. He causes things to happen on earth when men and women are in agreement with His will. Prayer is essential for God’s will to be done on earth. The Lord Jesus Christ came to save humankind and enable the Church to become his partners in establishing His kingdom on earth. When He came to the earth, He healed the sick, made the blind see, made the cripple walk and even raised the dead. Today, more than ever, He works through the Church to show the world His love and His compassion.
Those born into the Kingdom of God therefore are part of His plan in bringing about the changes that he promised. The act of prayer is an affirmation that Christians do believe, affirm and participate in the unfolding plan of God . Prayer is a way for us to connect with God and help intercede and pray for the expansion of God ‘s kingdom on earth . As the partners and friends of God, we, like Abraham and other persons of God before us , could communicate , ask favors , and intercede in behalf of those we love before God . With prayer, we can become intercessors before God since this is part of the authority that Christ has given us by virtue of the sacrifice He made on the cross. A careful study of Scripture reveals Heavenly Activities On Earth. For the Word of God declares:
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. (2 Chron. 7:14)
I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. (Matt 16:19-20)
I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. (Matt 18:18-20)
As John Wesley once said, “God does nothing but in answer to prayer.” Prayer is therefore not an option for mankind but a necessity. If we don’t pray, heaven cannot interfere in earth’s affairs. It is imperative that we take responsibility for the earth and determine what happens here by our prayer lives. We can make a difference and change the course of history if we will just understand the purpose and power of prayer.
